FROM NOTHINGNESS, STRANGE LIGHT: 16

A seacoast drowses in its soft coat
obeying wisdom of tides

Gulls flash in their white brilliance
balancing hunger, death

We walk along surprised by ourselves,
the suddenness of time

I think of spiral galaxies, their
ancient light, their motions

Winds are rising, the sea barks
on the rocks

We have come here for years
to taste the nothingness.
